Chapter 221: Revelation
221
"I was abducted from my family when I was at the age of five." Rong Xia started.
Rong Yue's fists tightened as she saw the tremble from her mother's hands.
"Even now, I don't know my family but I know that they used to be in the capital."
"For twenty three years, we were kept in a laboratory that wanted to make some groundbreaking discoveries. They gathered talents and geniuses from around the world and made use of their intelligence."
"Like you, I had exceptional brain and I was one of the very few people that was able to survive being in the laboratory and all the tests they gave us."
Rong Yue's eyes narrowed as she heard her words. Why did this sound so similar and familiar.
Also, from what she was saying, she could sense that these were the people her mother was wary about.
"Did you escape from there or did they let you go?" She asked, afraid that if she let her mom keep talking, she would go through the pain of reliving all those memories.
"I.. I escaped. I escaped with five others."
"Mom…" Rong Yue stood up abruptly and rushed to her mother's side.
The crack in her voice was very heartbreaking to hear and it was enough to tell her just how much pain she must have been in.
"T..they were going to move us to another location, a new facility that they had just built. Yue'er… it was our only chance because after then, it would have gotten even harder."
"Mom… you don't have to say everything…"
"It's okay, I can talk about it…"
Seeing that her mother wanted to talk, Rong Yue pulled the seat closer to her and held her arms.
"Before I left, I had been assigned to a project. It was their biggest one. It would have destroyed the world but if we didn't do it, we were subjected to inhumane treatments."
"So we had to…" thinking of how she had done all those evil things for them. Rong Xia broke down and cried miserably.
Rong Yue stood up and hugged her mother, but in her past life, she had experienced something really similar.
She was very certain that if it wasn't the organization that had taken her mother, it was something even worse.
Also, for that facility to have been existing since her mother was five years old meant that they had already become a frightening existence.
The more she thought about, the more Rong Yue's heart bled.
"Mom, you didn't have a choice."
After like ten minutes, Rong Xia finally managed to get her emotions in control. She then explained how she had escaped with her team to her daughter.
"If we didn't fake our deaths, there's no way they would let us live. So the explosion was the best bet. However, I have always been worried.."
"Why? Did you leave a clue behind?"
"Not that I know of. But we were five that escaped together and right now, three of them have died in mysterious ways. There's no way to point the death at them but at the same time, it feels too coincidental."
Upon hearing that, Rong Yue's heart beat sped up.
Because more than everyone, she knew very well that her mother had died quite early in her previous life.
In fact, her mother had died 5 years from now. And it also started to make sense why her mother that was only feigning to be an idiot had become brain dead and died.
"Mother, they know."
"I'm certain that they know."
Neither of them was able to remain calm and Rong Xia pulled away from her embrace with fright.
"Yue'er, how do you know?"
"How do you know?"
Rong Yue stepped back a little, her slender figure was trembling slightly as her mind worked at a frightening pace.
"I just know it mom, it's a gut feeling that I don't think is wrong. Besides, if they have found three, they might have gotten something from one of them. So it's better to assume that they know and prepare for them…" she paused and took a deep breath.
"Than to overlook things and be caught unprepared!"
Rong Xia was silent for a while, her eyes lost in thoughts as she looked at her daughter.
"Rong Yue, you deserve a normal life…. Also, Qin Yichen really loves you. If you are with him, I'll not have to worry about your safety."
Tears fell from Rong Yue's face as she heard that, she understood that her mom didn't want to put her in danger.
"You are my only family. What's the point of staying safe and alive if you aren't here?"
"Also, mom, as long as we work together, I'm sure that we would find a solution." She had a feeling that maybe this place that her mother was running from was the same place that had captured her.
She had always wondered why they had picked her because back then, she had been nothing more than a model.
But somehow, it was as though they expected her to be a genius and time after time, they tested her limits.
Like her mother, her mind was sharper than others and she was quickly connecting some things that didn't make a lot of sense together.
Although she couldn't confirm on the spot, she knew that if she talked with her mother later on, she would be able to confirm if it was truly the way she guessed.
"Mom, we would fight them together, since they suspect that your team escaped. Even if they are in the shadows, we now know that they are in the shadows."
"As for us, we would also not be unprepared…."
Since she knew that her mother wasn't an idiot, Rong Yue explained all the things that she had been doing recently to her mother.
Rong Xia understood the core of them very quickly too and her eyes became even teary.
"There's no way I can find a daughter that's more perfect than this," Rong Xia said with more tears rolling down her face.
As for Rong Yue, she smiled gently and then pulled her mother into a hug.
"Even if the world try to stop us, we would fight them together!"
Like that, their bond that was already perfect before became even closer.
Each one of them had their wounds and pains that they hadn't talked about, yet. But it didn't stop them from understanding each other.
Rong Xia also understood that having more money was a type of power so she gave Rong Yue some pointers.
"I haven't also remained idle all these years. I have also tried to build my own force of people. Although they don't have a lot of money, I sell them some things that they can't find anywhere else. With this, I earn enough money to use and grow my men."
"Mom, what are you planning?" Rong Yue's mouth fell open in shock.
Even though her mother used some few words to describe everything, she could already tell that there was more to it than that, after all, producing something that they couldn't buy anywhere else was not something easy.
Also, building her own people?
As she thought of it, Rong Yue's eyes fell open in shock.
"Mom? Are you building a personal army that can handle those people?"
In this moment, despite the two lives experience that she had, Rong Yue couldn't help her heart from beating fast in excitement.
She looked at her mom like she was looking at her own superhero.
Rong Xia also blushed hard from the way her daughter was looking at her.
While Rong Xia had never despised her, she had also never looked at her in such a way.
It was a new feeling but Rong Xia felt her heart warm up in a new way.
"Even though I have escaped, there are several others out there that are still locked up and being exploited by those monsters."
The anger and pain in Rong Xia's gaze was enough for Rong Yue to know that her mom had made up her mind to save the others if she could.
Rong Yue was also happy, after all, she wanted people like Little Loli to grow up as a normal child in this life and not exploited by those evil monsters.
The both of them were lost in their thoughts for a few minutes, each person processing their emotions and responsibilities in their mind.
After what seemed like ten minutes, Rong Yue broke the silence.
"Mom, I'm sorry." She was truly sorry that in their last life, up until her mother died, she had never realized that it was just a cover up.
She felt that she had not paid proper attention. And she had selfishly taken the life that her mother gave her.
After all, just to make sure that Rong Yue was fine and safe, Rong Xia feigned being an idiot for eighteen years.
That level of sacrifice was impressive and hard to imagine.
But Rong Xia didn't feel that Rong Yue should apologize.
On the other hand, she felt ashamed and a little worried about pulling her daughter into her battles.
