Chapter 65: [2-0]
Mori materialized into the [2-0] passageway, it looked like the previous levels.
Black tiles and those same torches on each side.
A week ago he probably would've taken all of them, But since they only recycled for 1 kindle it became tedious.
Money is money, but he'd only bother with them when purposefully farming.
Here, he was instead just aiming to kill this boss.
Aleesia told him it was easy, slightly longer, but not that bad.
From [0-1] to [1-0] had been easy, especially since he kept leveling up, and could maintain a level lead by farming the S levels.
On top of torches, some rooms had started being slightly more decorated. The last one he had completed had a chest, which he hadn't seen once before.
Its content wasn't useful: bundles of threads. He recycled them, he couldn't find any other use to them.
The routine was quite boring, he truly wanted to go faster but it would require a miracle to do anything faster.
One last look.

Alright, let's hope I hit 21 before the boss room.
Mori had no new gear, besides his spear now being a [Rare Spear].

He started walking toward the first room, his hands tightly grabbing the spear.
A screeching was echoing in the passageway, a high-pitched grinding sound.
It was continuous, varying in intensity.
Mori approached carefully, it was the first time he was hearing that eery sound.
He stopped moving.
In the middle of the room he could see it. An undead, nothing new from the previous rooms, but this one...
A heavy sword, a truly large piece that was dragged directly on the floor, the tip grinding against the tiles.
The whole floor was in shambles, the undead must've been aimlessly walking for a long time, Mori guessed.
The blade must've been 5cm wide, but it's height was where it was most impressive, and it looked sharp.
Only the tip seemed nicked, which made sense in the way it was handled it.
Mori inhaled, holding it for a few seconds then started running as he exhaled.
In a matter of seconds, he reached the undead, his spear piercing its body.
Mori quickly pulled the spear out and took a few steps back.
He had learned the hard way having your weapon stuck in the enemy's body was an easy way to reach a game over.
The undead's attention was on him, it looked like all the other ones, really.
The smell was putrid, but he learned to just ignore it the best he could.
It's decomposed body didn't bother him, he had seen bodies in worst shape in Dustriver.
The undead was taking steps toward Mori, its heavy sword still dragging behind it.
That weapon is clearly to heavy for-
The air whistled right in front of Mori, as he saw in slow-motion the sword cut the air right in front of his eyes.
What?
Mori took several steps back.
The Undead, who had only been dragging that sword with one hand, had a burst of speed once his second one held the handle.
Now that he was two-handing it, his steps seemed to be faster than they were before.
Instead of dragging the sword on the ground, it was now holding it straight, like a knight.
"Heh... really?"
Mori raised his spear again, it was steadily facing the undead once more.
He was taking sidesteps, carefully looking at his opponent's movement.
The undead took a sudden step forward, doing a side sweep.
On top of the 'swoosh' sound, Mori felt his hair moving from the displacement of the wind.
There's no way I can ever block that.
Mori focused on dodging and carefully positioning, while keeping his eyes on his enemy.
The undead stepped forward again, sweeping sideways.
Expected as much.
Mori wait until the sword was out of the way, and used the spear to pierce its shoulder.
A loud 'clunk' could be heard as the tip of the sword was against the floor once again, the grinding sound filling the room once more.
Mori quickly withdrew his spear, and took a few steps back.
Alright, let's see how you swing that sword with one arm.
The undead was still walking toward Mori, but without waiting for it to attack, Mori quickly stabbed its torso again, making it step back.
Well it's not too hard, despite its weapon.
Mori kept the pressure up, stabbing at it multiple times without connecting.
Despite one of its arms not working, it still managed to lift the sword and block some of Mori's hits while threatening a counter.
Mori lunged forward with the spear, only for it to be blocked in another loud 'clunk' sound.
It didn't matter, however, he kept trying, over and over again.
Until finally it connected, hitting its neck.
In a fit of rage, it started flailing its sword forward without any logic behind the movements.
Despite that, it gave Mori a hard time as the hits were consistently fast, he moved back until his back hit the wall.
Fuck.
Mori took the spear at its end, and made a move toward the undead's legs with the maximum reach he could achieve with a spear.
The undead quickly moved to block, never realizing it was a feint.
Mori brought the spear back quickly, and firmly pushed it into its torso again, this time not withdrawing it.
Using all the strength remaining in his legs, he pushed forward with the spear into the undead, making it fall backward onto the floor.
It tried raising the sword once on the ground but Mori was quick to put his feet on its arm.
Using his spear, he repeatedly stabbed the undead until it finally was defeated.
Its sword loudly dropped to the ground, while its main body disappeared.
Mori dropped his own spear, dropping on the ground as he tried to control his breathing.
He laid on his back, closing his eyes a moment.
He could hear the door opening. The way to the next room was now clear.
It was harder than anticipated, but now that I know how they behave with a two-hander, I should be fine.
Mori made a mental note of the encounter, trying to mentally review the way it behaved.
The easiest thing to do was to try and hack at its shoulder after it swung its sword.
Undead's limbs weren't too hard to render useless, unlike the skeletons. Their body was in such a condition that most hits were critically injuring them, however, they needed more hits to go down.
If there's another one in the next room, I'll hit the shoulder then the leg right away, or maybe one shoulder and the next one...
He finally sat upright, extending his arm to reach the sword.
He took it and inspected it.
[Undead 2H-Sword]
Basic.
It wasn't bad, probably an increase from a [Rare 2H-Sword] from the sword, but spears were too safe for Mori to pass on.
He stashed it, and got up after taking the kindle.
After dusting himself, he headed toward the next room.
He slowed down once he approached the next room. He could clearly see the next enemy right in the entrance.
Mori's grip tightened, as he squinted to discern if it was facing him or not.
Mori mentally sighed.
It's not.
Going at snail's pace, he approached as silently as he could.
It was right there.
A few more steps.
But how?
Should I pierce the skull? Can I even apply enough force? Maybe at an angle...
Mori started lowering his center of gravity.
His main idea was to go through the back of the next, and hopefully up the skull.
He had no real anatomy knowledge, but he believed that should do it.
Regardless, their bodies were weak, so it should work no matter what.
One step. Another.
He inhaled.
Quickly, his spear split the air and pierced the undead through the neck, and up its skull as planned.
Mori sighed, as he stood straight up, while the undead went to its knees, the spear still in its skull.
Wasn't too hard.
It happened in a flash.
An arc described by a short but large object, coming from the right side of the entrance.
Another undead was right next to the entrance?
Mori tried to take a step back, he wasn't out through the entrance, which meant that swing would never reach him.
That undead must've been randomly triggered to attack, he thought.
His step back, however, stopped in its tracks.
He realized the spear was still stuck in the undead's skull.
He tried pulling it out, but it was already too late.
A loud breaking sound filled the passageway, as what appeared to be a mace broke it clean in half, leaving a piece of wood in Mori's hands.
