World Isekai

Chapter 56: [Orbs]

There.

They both ran toward him, but in a single line, like he had predicted.

However, as they approached, the one closest to him slowed down.

It threw a hand backward, which the other one took.

It propelled its friend forward, flying toward him.

Mori smirked.

Expecting as much, he did a wide arc, striking its head right-on with his spear.

The skeleton hit the ground a few times as it rolled on it, hitting the wall at decent speed.

It was weak, trying to get up, but going for it would've been a mistake and he knew it.

Mori kept his eyes on the other one, coming toward him.

It ran forward, arm held backward, ready to strike, but Mori's reach with a spear simply couldn't be competed with.

He struck its head vertically, making its chin touch the ground in a blink.

The skull shattered, pieces of bones scattering around the floor, covering it in white dust.

Mori turned toward the last one remaining.

The only thing he saw in his peripheral view was movement.

In a split-second reaction, he ducked.

He dodged its strike by a hair, the air whistling above his head.

He didn't have much leverage, but he used his spear to sweep its legs.

The strike had minimal strength to it, but it made it stagger backward long enough for Mori to chain his attack with another hit.

The skeleton crumbled to the floor.

Mori got on top of it, ready to pummel its head but before any hits connected, it consumed itself, leaving no bones or. dust around.

He loudly exhaled, sitting then laying on the ground, exhausted.

His breathing was louder than ever, he closed his eyes a moment as he deeply inhaled.

He let go of his spear, and without even realizing it, everything went dark.

[Level up!]

—~~~—

Fuck, it hurts.

Mori's eyes opened up to the same ceiling they had closed on.

The adrenaline was gone; the rush had only left pain behind.

His face and hands were in truly bad shapes, just moving his arms while keeping his hands still somehow hurt as well.

He sat upright, closing his eyes as he tried inhaling through the pain.

Items had dropped, still waiting for him.

I'm truly glad there's no time limit on those, thought Mori.

Three globes had dropped, and a single flame like the previous rooms.

The first two were grey, however, the third one was white.

"What..."

White? There's grey... then light blue, yellow, orange, red and purple. There shouldn't be anything white.

Unsure of what it could've been, he decided to get the other ones first.

He touched the first globe; it illuminated the room briefly, then revealed its content.

[Common Dagger]

Less reach, forcing me to get even closer to enemies? No thanks. I guess it'll be useful for other things than fighting.

Mori then walked over to the next grey Orb, illuminating the room again.

[Bone Dust]

Mori stashed it right away. He had no use for it, but as there didn't seem to be a limit to the stash, there was no point in leaving it behind.

His best guess was that it could be used for some sort of profession, however, he only knew a bit about Inscription.

He didn't even have his inscription kit with him. Making that dust completely useless to him at that moment.

He then took the fluttering flame.

[Kindle 5(+2)]

He turned toward the remaining orb, staring at it intently.

There was no point in overthinking it.

He grabbed it.

[Dungeon Drop: Recycler]

Mori received the notification as the orb burst into multiple rays of light.

A recycler? But where is it?

Mori looked where the orb was, but no item had appeared.

He turned around, inspecting the room, but truly nothing.

His eyebrows popped up in realization. He quickly opened his profile.

[Memento Mori] [Level 2]

[Class: Cursed Sovereign]

[Cursed Path: Fateweaver 1879892/2,216,838]

[Health points: 10/10]

[Cursed Energy: 0/1477892]

[Magic: 20]

[Strength: 6]

[Defense: 4]

[Agility: 2]

Mori suddenly stopped moving, only just realizing he had leveled up.

He sat down, closing his eyes for a brief instant, taking in the moment.

He was one step closer to his goal.

Magic going up is what I really need for my curses. The rest doesn't matter that much for most spells.

He still appreciated the other stats going up.

While getting access to stronger spells without burning most of his cursed energy was his primary goal, in here, that mattered little.

The only real goal here was to survive the dungeon.

He looked at his profile a good moment, and then went pressed [Dungeon].

The Dungeon overlay appeared, he went straight to his stash.

Next to the torches, there it was.

[Recycler].

He could set it up in [0-0], the tooltip giving no other information on its uses.

Since he was already there, he set it up in a corner.

The way it worked was quite interesting, he thought.

It looked like a 2d view from above of the rooms connected by a passageway pathway.

He could visualize the dimensions of things he wanted to add. In this case he only had torches and the recycler.

He didn't set up any torches, however, as the first thing he would do when he got back would be rest, and that would be impossible in a bright room.

Mori went back to the main [Dungeon] overlay, [0-0] wasn't greyed out anymore.

Above his current level, [0-2] was now available, and next to his current level was a new option appearing.

[0-1-S]

Mori frowned, unsure of what that one was.

His current level, [0-1] was greyed out, but the 1-S next to it wasn't.

It could've been because he was already in it, but he wasn't sure.

I'll ask the Unkindled when I get back.

Without waiting any longer, he pressed [0-0]

The lights seemed to darken. Everything felt like it was getting further away from him, as if he was falling, until nothing.
