Chapter 67 That's Love You Idiot

"What do you mean?" Victoria said.

"How can't you see that Alice was in love with you? You even sounded like you were a little in love with her too. How do you not see that?" I said.

"What are you talking about?" Victoria said.

"Oh my god! There's seriously no way you're sitting here and telling me you don't think Alice was in love with you." I got up off the bed and started pacing. I loved and hated that story, but it made me so anxious I couldn't not move my body.

"Alice and I were good friends. That's it." Victoria said.

"Ok, we're going to do a little test," I said. I got on the edge of the bed on my knees and sat back onto my feet. "I'm going to ask you some questions and you just answer them honestly to the best of your knowledge. Ok?"

Victoria sat up and said, "Yeah, ok."

"At the time you were in the theatre troupe, if you had the ability to, would you have spent the rest of Alice's mortal human life with her by her side?" I said.

"Yes, of course," Victoria said.

"Ok," I said. I resisted the urge to scream at her. "Do you think, to the best of your understanding, that Alice would have spent the rest of her life by your side?"

"Of course she would. No doubt." Victoria said.

"That's love you idiot!" I said. "Both of you loved each other. What's so hard to understand about that?"

"No. We were just good friends," Victoria said.

"Oh my god! This is insane!" I said. "If you could have, would you have kissed her?"

"Yes," Victoria said.

"If you could have made love to her, would you have?" I said.

"Yes," Victoria said.

"That's love! You. Moron." I said.

"No. Alice was just a very attractive woman. Me being physically attracted to her has nothing to do with love," she said.

"Ok, how about we ask Alice if she was in love with you?" I said.

"How?" Victoria said.

"My sword just so happens to have a very special ability that allows me to sense the location of a person's blood. And since Alice swallowed your blood, she has your blood in her, meaning I can track Alice. If she's still alive, I will know where she is if you give me a single drop of your blood," I said. "Technically even if she isn't still alive, I'll know where she is."

"I'm nervous," Victoria said.

"Why?" I said.

"What if she hates me after all these years?" Victoria said. "I don't know if I can live with that."

"If she does, then seeing her and talking to her, increases your chances of turning that around," I said. "Staying out of touch will keep her feelings for you at their lowest. Seeing her can only serve to increase them. You can't lose!"

"Ok," Victoria said as she bit her hand and dropped a little blood into mine. "But I reserve the right to blame you if things go wrong."

"It's not like you wouldn't have done that anyways," I said, under my breath.

"What was that?" Victoria said.

"Oh, nothing. Just talking to myself," I said. I drew my sword and smeared the blood on the back of it.

A bright orange figure that wasn't Victoria appeared in my mind. She wasn't that far away, assuming it was Alice. She was just the next state over. I looked at a map on my phone and was able to pinpoint which city she was in.

Then I cross referenced the city with traveling theater groups. Only one group was in that city yesterday and the same theater group would be in this city tonight!

I checked the theater group's cast members on the website. It listed an Alice Fairfax as the leader of the group. I smiled an evil smile. It even scared Victoria.

"What's got you so happy?" She said, looking taken aback.

"Alice is going to be here, tonight, in this city! We can go see her! I just bought tickets to her show. And VIP passes backstage," I said.

"No! Why?" Victoria said.

"What? You want to see her don't you?" I said.

"Yes! But she's going to hate me!" Victoria said covering her face in her hands.

"No, she won't!" I said. "How about this? I'll talk to her first and find out if she wants to see you and then I'll tell you so you won't have to face her resentment if she does resent you."

"Ok," Victoria said, still covering her face and mouth. It was actually kind of hard to hear her talk with her hands over her mouth like that.

"Let's go see if Chad is still at the diner!" I said. "It's been a million years and he still isn't back yet."

"Ok," Victoria said as she got dressed.

I dressed myself as well, and we headed out the door. We made our way over to the diner across the street. We looked around and saw Chad sitting at a table playing with his food.

He had two other people at the table that I didn't recognize, but Victoria seemed to. She hurried over to the table, while pretending not to.

"Brad," she nodded at one of them. "Thad," she nodded at the other one. "What do you want?"

"We wanted little mister 'I'm not actually dead'. And now that he's here, we get to have a little chat." Brad said while looking at me.

"Oh, really?" I said. "Give me one good reason not to murder you both right now? You think you have me cornered, but that couldn't be further from the truth. You'd both be dead already if I wasn't such a generous person."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Well, you're going to want to hear this then," Thad said. He pulled out a phone and placed it on the table. He pressed play on a recording. "Hi, uh, my name is Johnny Calabrese and I've been abducted by some real fruitcakes. No offense to fruitcakes. Some of my best friends are fruitcakes.

But, uh, they really know how to pack it in, if you know what I'm saying."

"Shut up, old man!" Said a voice. There was a thud and a grunt from Johnny as someone presumably hit him.

Thad stopped the recording. "What do you have to say about that, wise guy?"
