Chapter 145: That’s the Real Jing Yi
Chapter 145
"Jing Yi, over here."
Jing Yi looked toward where Wang Boqi was waving, her lips curving into a smile. As always, he had reserved the entire place.
If Jing Yi hadn't known Wang Boqi's true intentions, she might have thought this was just another romantic gesture typical of a wealthy young master.
Jing Yi sat down in the chair Wang Boqi pulled out for her and asked with a smile, "Have you been waiting long?" She wondered if today's invitation was just for another simple meal.
Although Jing Zeyou had recently warned her that Wang Boqi might make his move soon, Jing Yi remained vigilant.
Wang Boqi returned to his seat and replied gently, "Of course not." He opened the menu and expertly ordered Jing Yi's favorite dishes with the waiter.
Jing Yi watched him, her eyes curved in amusement, seemingly accustomed to his behavior.
"That's all for now."
Wang Boqi handed the menu back to the waiter and turned to find Jing Yi watching him, his lips curving upward.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
Wang Boqi gazed at Jing Yi, his eyes tender and filled with warmth.
Jing Yi shook her head with a light laugh, "Nothing, just thinking how well you've come to know my food preferences."
Could it be that she was just being polite? The dishes Wang Boqi ordered weren't nearly as good as Aunt Wang's cooking!
"Jing Yi, you know I want to understand more than just your food preferences."
Wang Boqi's gaze was deeply affectionate, and Jing Yi lowered her head slightly, appearing shy as she avoided his intense stare, but in reality, she was suppressing the urge to roll her eyes.
When she looked up again, Jing Yi's expression showed both joy and hesitation. "Boqi, may I ask you something?"
Wang Boqi gave her an encouraging look, "Of course."
Jing Yi seemed to struggle before finally asking, "The incident with Jiang Miaomiao, was that your doing?"
Wang Boqi's eyes narrowed slightly, a barely noticeable darkness flashing across them. He wasn't afraid of her bringing up this matter; in fact, he had been waiting for it.
"Jing Yi, did your second brother tell you about this?" Wang Boqi probed.
Jing Yi nodded slightly, looking down, "You know, I was the one who stopped that incident, so he didn't hide anything from me and told me some of the truth behind it."
The last few words were spoken softly, as if she was reluctant to believe them.
Wang Boqi stood up and knelt before Jing Yi, holding her hand, his phoenix eyes carrying a hint of sadness.
"Do you also think I did it?"
The struggle in Jing Yi's eyes became more apparent. She tried to pull her hand away from Wang Boqi's tight grip, but he held on firmly!
Why was this bastard gripping so tightly! She would have to wash her hands ten times when she got back!
Wang Boqi naturally had no intention of letting go.
Jing Yi spoke with difficulty: "I don't want to believe it was you, but..."
Wang Boqi interrupted her, still maintaining his tender expression, "Would you like to hear a story?" Jing Yi glanced at him, her bright eyes rippling with emotion.
The current problem was - please let go of her hand! Sit back down properly and spin your tale!
For the next fifteen minutes or so, Jing Yi listened to a story about a wealthy young master who was heartlessly abandoned by a famous actress, and it was even because of Jing Zeqian.
Jing Yi: ...I really want to stab these ears deaf!
No matter how far-fetched Wang Boqi's story was, Jing Yi was supposed to be someone deeply immersed in his affection, so naturally, she had to act like a complete romantic!
Jing Yi's eyes welled up with tears, her gaze filled with complex emotions, seemingly heartbroken and disappointed for the wealthy young master in the story.
A barely noticeable trace of contempt flashed through Wang Boqi's eyes - Jing Yi seemed easier to handle than he had imagined.
He gently wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes, but Jing Yi slightly dodged his touch.
Wang Boqi seemed even more pleased with Jing Yi's shy state. "So you haven't told your second brother about us, right?" Jing Yi kept her head slightly lowered, her voice carrying a hint of stubbornness, "This is my personal matter, it has nothing to do with them."
Wang Boqi's lips curved upward, though his eyes showed sympathy.
"I'm sorry that because of me, you have to face such opposition from your family."
The girl before him spoke softly, yet with a hint of resentment, "Family? You're overestimating my relationship with them."
Jing Yi rambled on, seemingly treating Wang Boqi as a confidant, expressing all her dissatisfaction with the Jing family and Jing Zejun.
And Wang Boqi believed every word she said.
He remained convinced that the Jing Yi he had investigated overseas was the real Jing Yi.
...
After finishing another round of acting competition with Wang Boqi, Jing Yi prepared to head home.
However, she unexpectedly received a call from Shen Huaichu.
It was the familiar dark red sports car again, and the somewhat familiar figure of Shen Huaichu standing at the company entrance.
Jing Yi tilted her head, "Mr. Shen, is your car broken again? Need a ride?" Was he really treating her as his personal driver?
Shen Huaichu nodded, his eyes flashing with guilt. Although it wasn't because his car was broken, his ultimate goal was indeed to get a ride.
After he got into the car, Jing Yi teased, "Mr. Shen, being such a big company's boss, couldn't you buy a better car?"
What kind of car breaks down every other day? Was it salvaged from a junkyard?
The bodyguard, driver, and employees who saw Shen Huaichu getting into the car at the entrance: ...
The employee watched in surprise as Shen Huaichu got into the dark red sports car, just as they had discussed in their group chat.
He muttered, "So Mr. Shen's girlfriend is picking him up again?" The bodyguard beside him gave him a look - how come he didn't know about Mr. Shen having a girlfriend? Shouldn't he be the first to know?
Noticing the look from the person beside him, the employee's eyes lit up, "Brother Li, you follow Mr. Shen all day, have you seen his girlfriend? Is she pretty?"
Aliali: 674546a7c4f3f33ac44c928aThe bodyguard-driver coldly replied, "Mr. Shen doesn't have a girlfriend." At least not yet.
He did know that she was the Jing family's daughter, but their current relationship wasn't exactly that of boyfriend and girlfriend.
The employee didn't believe it and looked at the bodyguard suspiciously. Could it be that he was keeping secrets for Mr. Shen?
After all, as a bodyguard and driver who spent time alone with Shen Huaichu every day, confidentiality was a basic professional requirement.
The employee nodded in agreement, feeling he had probably guessed right. He sighed, giving the bodyguard an appreciative yet sympathetic look before quietly walking away.
Leaving the bodyguard still standing at the company entrance: ...
Meanwhile, Jing Yi kept her eyes on the road, driving steadily.
"Seriously, you should get a new car when you have time. If I hadn't happened to be out, I wouldn't have accepted your request."
Shen Huaichu turned to look at her, his entire demeanor softer than usual. He hadn't expected Jing Yi to actually drive over to pick him up; he had only wanted to find an opportunity to talk to her.
Now it seemed his luck wasn't too bad after all.
