Florida Man in Magus World: Unleashing Liberty and Freedom

Feeling the threat, one of the basilisks screeched, pointing its spear at Felix.

"KILL HIM!"

At the order, the basilisks dropped their fear and roared, charging toward Felix with renewed determination. They swung their tails and charged forward. Some radiated the aura of four-star knights while a dozen at the rear raised their staffs, conjuring fourth-circle spells.

As they closed in, Felix rolled his tongue and spat with all his might. A tiny, finger-sized fireball shot toward the charging vanguard.

The basilisks dismissed it, assuming it was a desperate and feeble attempt at defense.

That assumption proved fatal. One basilisk slithered directly into the fire spit's path, and the projectile struck its weapon.

*VROOM*

The moment the fireball made contact, an explosion erupted, engulfing the entire area in a roaring sea of flames. The temperature soared to 500 degrees, instantly evaporating moisture and consuming the oxygen within a 200-meter radius.

The charging vanguard and the mages behind them were caught off guard. Their shrieks of panic echoed through the inferno. They struggled to breathe as the intense heat cooked them from the inside out.

The charge came to a halt as everybody but Felix collapsed!

Felix licked his teeth and his gum, collecting his saliva in his mouth and preparing for another spit. He grinned.

"Now, I feel like a proper phoenix."

<You should have trained harder. I always wanted to show you the result, but I couldn't.>

"I can't blame you. Yeah, my bad. I was lazy."

Felix finally realized how strong his phoenix bloodline abilities truly were. He wished he knew about the destructive power of his skills a few months ago.

Since Felix couldn't change the past, he could only change the future. He vowed to pay attention to the mastery and skills from now on.

Still, the fire spit had such a short range. Felix wished he had more long-ranged skills or abilities. Thus, he consulted Jessica.

"Jessica, is there a way to improve the attack range? It's kinda lackluster."

Jessica rolled her eyes, <Your 'not-beginner-yet-leveled' fire spit is an AOE skill that consumes everything within 300 meters range and creates an area where you can regain mana, recover your wounds, and restore energy. Is that not enough for you?>

Felix laughed, "I was thinking 500 meters or more."

<Earn your 'Beginner' mastery, and then, you will earn the right to complain. Right now, you're just asking too much.>

"Wow. You sound angry."

Once again, Jessica sighed. She shook her head, <I'm just tired. You don't even realize how overpowered you are compared to the local mages and knights. Sometimes, I wish you would run into one of those 'cultivators' from other worlds.>

"Cultivators?" Felix was curious. "What's that?"

<Never mind. You won't meet them in this world anyway. Moving on, keep training.>

"…"

Since Jessica didn't want to talk, he shrugged and continued working on merging his aura and mana.

The commotion alarmed the entire basilisk village. Cautiously, they assembled their people, gathering everybody in preparation for combat.

Their tribal chief was a former snake-head warrior, who mutated into a basilisk. She retained her humanoid physical body, but her head had multiplied into two. Two tiny snakes also grew out from the area above her buttock, wiggling and hissing.

The tribal chief, Sadine, stared at the sea of fire around Felix. Looking from afar, she recognized him.

"That Alpha… I see it now. He must have come for revenge."

Sadine crossed her arms and closed her eyes, attempting to connect her consciousness with the overmind, who had been controlling all demon god's minions. She reported her findings.

"Overlord, a human mage is attacking our basilisk tribe. He has overpowered us. What should we do?"

After sending the message, an archaic voice entered her mind in response.

[Who is the human mage? What is his strength?]

"Someone that our princess once called an 'Alpha'. He seems to be… a fourth-circle mage or a four-star aura knight…? I can't tell. I sense his aura and mana at the same time."

Sadine opened her eyes and gave Felix a better look. She blinked and rubbed her eyes, making sure that her vision was correct. Then, she confirmed it with the Overmind.

"Confirmed. The Alpha possesses both mana and aura."

[Mana and aura? Has that human mage's mana and aura merged as one or are they separated?]

"Separated, my lord."

[Are you sure?]

"Yes, why?"

[Good. It seems that the human 'Alpha' is not a 'cultivator'. Anyway, your tribe has overextended your position. Migrate to us.]

"But, my lord. There's a mysterious structure in the area. I sense great mana from its storage tanks. If we can secure it, we can use it to nurture our kin-"

[Do not be greedy. That must be a system building of a powerful system user. You're no match for them. Retreat!]

Sadine was unwilling. She looked at the oil derrick inside the barrier dome, wishing she could extract some of the mana within the storage tanks. Then, she shifted her attention to Felix.

Just in time, Jessica dumped a gallon of mana oil on top of Felix's head, causing the flame to erupt.

Sadine widened her eyes. Even though Felix was far away, she could vaguely smell the iconic scent of mana oil.

If that alpha could use the mana oil…

Puzzle pieces started to fit in. Sadine realized that Felix might potentially be the owner of the oil derrick here, and he was not happy about their presence.

Sadine came up with an idea. She asked the Overmind for permission, "Overlord, may I have the permission to negotiate with a system user? I suspect that he might be the owner of the mana liquid's buildings."

[Permission denied. Do not take risks. System users are destined to kill each other to the last man. Do not jump into the fray and get yourself killed. Retreat!]

"…Yes, my lord."

As ordered, Sadine commanded the troops. She shouted, "Pack up your luggage and food! We're reuniting with the main force at 'Zhu Town'.

The basilisks hissed and turned around in unison as if their thoughts and minds were one. They gathered all containers full of rotten human flesh and started marching south, heading to the Solaris Commonwealth Empire's border town, which they were calling 'Zhu Town'.

Because of Sadine's quick decision, Felix was left without a practice partner. He pursed his lips, irritated by the basilisk's intelligence.

Since the basilisks left him alone, Felix closed his eyes, seizing this golden opportunity to train. He kept merging aura strings and mana threads together in his stomach, while Jessica poured mana oil on him every five minutes.

The tedious process continued…

One hour…

Two hours…

Five hours…

Ten hours…

One day…

A total of three days had passed by. Felix lay on the ground, opening his arms and legs wide. His erected pole pointed at the sky while a small beacon of flame danced around it.

He was bored. No matter how strong his endurance was, his body failed to listen to his brain.

He didn't want to train anymore.

He wanted to cuddle. He missed Jiji's caring embrace and Diana's mischievous femdom service.

"I hate training. I wanna go home," Felix complained.

*ZAAAA*

As Felix was grumbling, Jessica dumped another bucketload of mana oil on his face. Flame erupted, entering his eyes, nostrils, and mouth. However, they did nothing to him but caused an annoyance.

<Keep going, Felix. The mana manipulation mastery is close to the beginner level. Didn't you accidentally learn the aura invocation technique yesterday? Every day's work is tomorrow's joy! Come on, get up!>

Felix glanced at Jessica. He mischievously teased her, "Jessica, I wanna have seggs."

Jessica rolled her eyes and facepalmed. She didn't know what to do with Felix's libido and laziness.

He indeed had fallen. He was a better man when Jane was around.

As the old saying goes, sex changed men. Some grew up while the rest remained as kids.

Still, as Felix had a clear motivation and life goal, Jessica had a few ideas on how to encourage him.

<Felix, did you know that you can build something similar to the Chrono gym? Have you ever watched a legendary anime — Dr*gon B*lls?>

Felix immediately sat up. His sparkling eyes fixed on Jessica's screen, "There's such a building in the store?!"

<…Yeah. I think the last main quest already hinted at it. I thought that you knew.>

"Yeah, I didn't pay attention to it. Let me see!"

Felix opened the system shop menu and searched for the 'time chamber'. He wondered if he could build one on his flying island.

*DING*

The system shop popped up, displaying sample images of the hyperbolic chamber. However, the price for the top chamber was too steep.

It required a total of 2,147,483,647 years of lifespan!

Felix's heart sank. He realized that he might not be able to collect that much without this flame-bathing ritual. He wondered how many years he needed to work to get that far.

Jessica read his mind and answered for him.

<You need a total of 68 years and one month of… this work… to attain it.>

Felix dropped his shoulders in disappointment, "Yeah, Nah. I ain't gonna cook myself nonstop for 68 years. I've been working for three days, and I can feel that I'm dying inside. There's no way I can endure 68 years without seggs. Na-ah!"

<You're lucky that you weren't sent to a cultivation world. You would have gone crazy there. Imagine sitting inside a cave for 10 years to gain 10 levels.>

"…Yikes. That exists?"

<Yes. Your ancestor went through that path.>
