Chapter 1719 Tournament of Rising Stars(3)
"Spirit Enlightenment, huh? They're grown." Yuan muttered with a smile behind his mask. The Demon Sealing Faction had not only caught up to his cultivation but even surpassed him.
Naturally, whether they could hold a candle against him in prowess was an entirely different story.
Xi Murong's opponent swallowed nervously after realizing he was at Spirit Enlightenment.
However, the young man didn't forfeit and stepped forward, "Hmph. So what if you're at Spirit Enlightenment? I'd never forfeit!"
"Is that so?" Xi Murong muttered as he retrieved a Spirit-grade dagger.
One of the rules in the tournament forbade the participants from using treasures above Spirit-grade, as that would defeat the purpose of the tournament. They were supposed to show off their talents, not their wealth, after all.
The only reason there was no restriction on their cultivation was simply because one's cultivation was considered a talent.
Xi Murong's opponent retrieved a Spirit-grade sword, and they started fighting shortly after.
The spectators expected Xi Murong to completely dominate his opponent right as the fight began, but he diverted their expectations when he started messing around with his opponent. However, that is not to say he was playing around. Instead, he was purposefully matching his opponent's speed and strength.
"Who is that young man at the Spirit Enlightenment? I don't recognize him." Emperor Ning asked Guard Sau, who was guarding their area with several other powerful guards.
Guard Sau retrieved a jade slip that had the information on all participants and said, "His name is Xi Murong. We don't have much information on him, but he's been training with a high-ranking member of the Celestial Overlords at the Grand Mystic Sect for the past few years."
"What?! Someone from the Celestial Overlords is in the Fourth Heaven?! Are they here right now?!" Emperor Ning stood up in shock after hearing this information.
The Celestial Overlords are bigshots in the upper heavens, much less the Fourth Heaven. Even royalty like Emperor Ning have to lower their head when speaking to them.
"Yes, he came here with the Sect Leader of the Grand Mystic Sect."
"You idiot! Why didn't anyone notify me?! We should've invited them to sit with us the moment we learned of their presence! Do you have any idea how bad this looks on us?!" Emperor Ning shouted angrily, causing heads to turn in their direction.
"I-I also wasn't aware until I saw the information just now… I'll go invite him right now!" Guard Sau lowered his head and left the next moment.
Once Guard Sau left, Emperor Ning looked at Yuan and sighed, "I apologize for that, Senior Xiao. Do you know of the Celestial Overlords?" n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"Of course, I do. Who hasn't heard of them in the upper heavens?" he calmly replied.
"Ah, I just realized how foolish my question was." Emperor Ning rubbed his chin in an embarrassed manner.
Meanwhile, Guard Sau approached the Sect Leader of the Grand Mystic Sect and asked him, "Senior Du, we've just received news that a member of the Celestial Overlords came to the tournament with your Grand Mystic Sect. Do you know where this esteemed guest is right now?"
Without uttering a word, Du Daomi shifted his gaze to look at Kelan, who was standing right beside him. Seeing this, Guard Sau immediately understood the situation and recognized Kelan as someone from the Celestial Overlords. While Kelan's presence was suppressed, there was no way to conceal the immense aura his body naturally exuded. Even an ignorant child could tell he was a powerful expert at a glance.
"Esteemed Guest from the Celestial Overlords! His Majesty, Emperor Ning, respectfully requested your presence at his humble booth with his family—if you don't mind!"
Kelan looked at the location where the Ning Family was spectating from, but his gaze wasn't directed at Emperor Ning. Instead, they were staring at Yuan.
"Sure," he said with an excited smile.
"Thank you! Please follow me."
Kelan looked at the others and said, "I'll be gone for a bit."
He followed Guard Sau to the Ning Family's booth.
When Kelan arrived, Emperor Ning got back on his feet and immediately apologized, "I would like to extend my deepest apology for the late invitation, Esteemed Guest. I wasn't notified of your presence until just now."
"It's fine."
"How should we address you, Esteemed Guest?"
"Kelan."
"K-Kelan?! Commander Kelan?! The God of Physiques?!" Emperor Ning almost couldn't believe his ears after hearing Kelan's name and recognizing it.
"That's right. There's no need to act so formally. Although I accepted your invitation, it wasn't because of the Ning Family," Kelan said as his gaze shifted to Yuan, who was calmly viewing the matches, completely ignoring Kelan.
'Not a single reaction even after learning of my identity, huh?' Kelan smiled inwardly.
Emperor Ning instantly realized what Kelan was trying to tell him and didn't try to prolong the conversation, fearing it might annoy Kelan.
"I understand. Then I won't bother you. If you need anything, just let me know."
Kelan grabbed the chair that had just been placed beside Emperor Ning's seat and moved it directly beside Yuan.
Kelan sat down with a loud thud, and his aura immediately began clashing with Yuan's intensely. The air between them grew thick with tension, and the atmosphere in the booth turned chilling. Emperor Ning and his family instinctively moved their seats away from Kelan and Yuan. They feared for their lives, but none of them dared to utter any complaints.
The two of them remained silent for several minutes until Kelan broke the silence.
"So, where are you from?"
"A place far away from here," Yuan responded nonchalantly.
"Do you really qualify for this tournament?" "Of course. Do you think I am lying?"
Kelan turned his head to look at Yuan.
Yuan did the same. Although his eyes were hidden by his mask, their gaze confronted each other with intensity that matched their auras.
Feeling Yuan's gaze through his mask, Kelan smiled and said, "You wanna spar later? I'll match your cultivation."
"Do you always ask strangers to spar with you?" Yuan asked.
"Only if they make the hair on my skin tingle." Yuan chuckled, "I'll think about it."
