Over here, David was using the functions of the Golden Finger, scrutinizing the FBI personnel coming in and out, up and down.

After his scrutiny, he found that almost only the rookies who had just joined were clean, while the veterans all had more or less some issues.

And whenever he discovered a problematic veteran, David would immediately pick up a pen and write down some key information on a piece of paper.

He continued until he had written about the fifth person and then stopped scanning from the corner of his eye. He put the pen and paper in his pocket and then turned and left.

Over at the government service window, after seeing David and others turn to leave, the agent immediately went up to Mr. Gavin's third-floor office to report, "Mr. Gavin, he's left..."

"He left?"

Gavin's face showed a twist of emotions and then he asked, "Did he show any other behavior?"

"After hearing your message from me, he remained very calm. Then he took out paper and pen, I don't know what he was noting down, and left shortly after."

"Oh?"

Gavin pondered with a thoughtful expression for about a minute before finally instructing, "Keep a close eye on him."

Although Gavin was not pleased with David's arrogant arrival at their place, he was somewhat wary of David's abilities.

"Yes."

...

On the way back to the Ninglin Branch Office, the trio of Nisen Bakesimmons remained sullen-faced.

Ever since the events in the Indian and Henderson Sparks cities, they had grown accustomed to the awe they inspired among the media, criminals, and various departments.

Now, with the FBI giving them such a cold reception, it naturally stuck in their craw.

"Don't worry, today they may have given us a cold shoulder, but tomorrow we will pay them back double!"

Upon hearing David's words, the trio glanced at each other, their expressions shifting from sullen to expectant.

To facilitate David's work, Egbert had specifically arranged a temporary office for him inside the Ninglin Branch Office.

When David returned to this office, he immediately took out the notebook from his pocket and began to outline in detail the information he had previously taken down.

After more than an hour, he stopped, turned to Nisen, and ordered, "Get me five Chief Tax Officers."

Nisen immediately went out.

It was only about ten minutes before he came back with five Chief Tax Officers from the Ninglin Branch Office.

And these five Chief Tax Officers, one by one, came in with hopeful eyes, for they had already learned from Nisen that David had called them for a task.

Being given a task meant there might be tax achievements to be gained, didn't it?

"Director Bezi, there's a matter that requires your inspection squad's immediate attention,"

"Please, instruct me,"

The one known as Bezi, the Chief Tax Officer, stood up immediately, ready to be dispatched by David.

David picked up a document he had written, handed it over, and said, "I need your inspection squad to verify the people, documents, and the consumption details of the subject as quickly as possible."

Bezi took the document with anticipation and began to read it earnestly.

He had assumed it might be about some city hall official, but as he read on, he was taken aback by what unfolded before his eyes.

This was no city hall official's file at all.

It was the file of a senior FBI agent.

What shocked him was that it also recorded all the illegal activities the senior agent had been involved in, who else was involved, and a myriad of details about the amounts of money profited from these endeavors.

One could say,

If one were to take action based on the information in this document, targeting those involved and uncovering the specified amounts, this senior agent would be doomed!

"How about it, Director Bezi, any issues?"

Bezi snapped out of his shock and straightforwardly replied, "With the thoroughness of your information, coupled with our personnel and system of channels, it certainly won't be difficult to resolve..."

Toward the end, Bezi hesitated slightly.

He wasn't aware of Poppy's situation, so he was somewhat puzzled as to why David would suddenly target the FBI out of the blue.

Weren't they supposed to resolve the city hall issues first, especially since the crackdown directive hadn't been repealed yet?

Seeing the confusion on Bezi's face, David immediately explained, "To tell you the truth, Director Bezi, I am doing this out of necessity. Rest assured, all the tax revenue generated from this will go to your squad. I don't want a penny!"

Upon hearing this, the initially puzzled Bezi's eyes lit up instantly.

Although he didn't understand why David was targeting the FBI, besides the senior agent who owed over sixteen thousand dollars in taxes, the other criminals who had transactions with the agent would also need to pay taxes.

Even though the exact tax amount was currently unknown, it was certain to be no small sum!

Bezi no longer concerned himself with the subtleties and promptly promised, "No problem, I've got this!"

David nodded, picked up a file concerning another FBI individual, and turned to another Chief Tax Officer, "Director Fake, I need your team to handle this with the utmost speed as well."

As Fake picked up the document and started reading, his reaction mirrored Bezi's earlier surprise.

"After you sort this out, all the tax revenue generated will also belong entirely to your inspection squad," David added.

Overcoming his surprise, Fake nodded and said, "Alright, I'll take care of it too!"

Then, David picked up three other prepared documents and handed them to three other Chief Tax Officers.

Upon David's assurance that all the tax revenue would belong to their squads, these three officers were equally resolute in their acceptance.

Lastly, David reminded them, "FBI personnel are definitely monitoring our every move, so be careful not to ruin the operation."

"We understand,"

the five Chief Tax Officers spoke in unison and then left, eager to get started.

David remained in the Ninglin Branch Office until 7 o'clock in the evening, after which he and Nisen and others drove to a hotel arranged by Egbert.

After enjoying a meal, they returned to their rooms.

FBI Office Building.

"Mr. Gavin, since returning to the Ninglin Branch, that David has stayed put the entire time, not leaving until 7 o'clock when he went to a hotel, had a meal, and then retired to his room," reported an agent who had just come in.

Gavin thought for a moment and then inquired, "What about his subordinates? Did they leave or investigate anything?"

"No, they've been with him the whole time, going to the hotel and then to their rooms as well. However... Several inspection squads from the Ninglin Branch Office have suddenly become active. But with five to six dozen inspectors in these squads, and our limited personnel, it's not possible to keep an eye on each one..."

Even though this was the Nevada State FBI Office, most of the agents were on assignment; dispatched to various cities and counties for cases. There were only about twenty or thirty agents left idle at the office, so naturally, they couldn't attend to everything.
