AI Doctor : From Slave to Beast King

Chapter 89: Start from the Basics

Damien closed his eyes and breathed out heavily before turning to look at the man in front of him. He said to Xavier, "You are being unfair. If I wear these, I would be slower than you. At least you should wear a pair as well!"

"I don't need to," Xavier replied with a calm voice. "I will stand right here. All you need to do is hit me."

"What?" Damien felt like he had misheard something and thus asked Xavier to repeat it again.

The man raised his head and smiled at him before saying, "All you need to do is to hit me. If you succeed in doing so, I will begin the next step of the training."

If not for the fact that Damien knew that Xavier couldn't make a joke even if his life depended on it, Damien would have felt like Xavier was pulling his leg.

"So all I need to do is take a hit on you?" Damien said while tying the ankle weights around his ankles.

Xavier's lips curled into a small smile, he nodded before replying, "That's indeed what you need to do. If you can," he added with a subtle glint in his eyes.

'This brat,' Damien thought with a twitch of his lips.

"Don't you think you are being way too confident?" Damien said as he straightened up on his feet. Did this man think that he was so weak that he couldn't even land a hit on him?

Xavier placed his hands behind his back before saying to Damien, "I don't know if you have learned any swordsmanship before— but given that you have no calluses in your hands it's quite clear that the chances of you succeeding in attacking me are close to nil."

He paused before saying, "Nevermind that, just go ahead and attack me."

Damien narrowed his eyes before saying, "Don't regret it once I am done with you." He had worked so hard in the past, he had even carried multiple patients from the sight of accidents. Landing a hit shouldn't be a big problem right?

"I also hope that you will be able to do it, Lord Damien," Xavier threw a wooden sword at him which Damien caught with his hand. "If not then it would take a long time for you to learn how to even swing a sword."

This —bastard.

Damien clenched the wooden in his hand as a cool breeze fluttered past him. He raised the sword a bit high in the air and heard Xavier say, "Go ahead and attack me."

'Though I have no idea how to swing a sword, I did learn a few tricks while learning fencing,' thought Damien as he recalled the tricks that his trainer had taught him when he first joined the fencing club in his college.

Damien gripped the sword in his hands and then lunged at Xavier, "Here I come!"

"There is no need to announce when you are going to attack, Lord Damien," Xavier sighed as he raised his own wooden sword and aimed it right in between Damien's ribs.

"Argh!" Damien gasped in pain as he stumbled on his feet and fell back on his butt.

Xavier gave him an annoyed look and Damien felt like an incompetent bastard.

"You have too many openings, if you lunged at a person like this in the battlefield, you will find yourself dead in a matter of seconds," Xavier told him with a light scoff. "And stop swinging your sword so much."

"Ouch… you…" Damien gasped as he tried to stand up on his feet. He was certain that Xavier had just poked him a little in between his ribs and yet why did it hurt so much?

"Do you want to give up?" Xavier asked when he saw Damien trembling. He had only instilled a little aura in his attack, something that he did every time when he was training with the rest of the new guards.

He never thought that a little aura would bring Damien to his knees. Did he overdo it?

"N…No. This –This is nothing," Damien got to his feet with the support of the sword. "I wi–will go again. Th–this is not the end."

This time around he would not lunge and attack, instead he would make a feint before making a straight thrust.

With his quick speed he should get the hit right?

Damien's eyes sharply looked at Xavier who had not moved from his place from the start and extended his arm as far as he could, with his footwork, he agilely leapt towards Xavier.

He pretended to aim for the right but just as Xavier moved, he ducked and turned his thrust to the left.

"Gotcha—" Before he could even cheer, Xavier turned on his feet and stopped his sword with his own. He then swung his sword upwards, causing Damien to twist and fall on the ground.

"Damn!" Damien griped as his head hit the floor of the training ground.

"Hmm." Xavier looked at Damien who was on his fours and walked over to him. He raised the wooden sword in his hand and poked Damien on the back, "From where did you learn such skills?"

Damien however was not in the mood to answer Xavier, he banged his fists on the ground before muttering, "Damn I knew that you were good but I never thought that you were this good."

He climbed to his feet before saying to Damien, "Once more, give me a chance one more time."

He was going to land a hit this time around.

"There is no point," Xavier shook his head before saying to him, "You are not good enough for sparring with a beast man yet. You first need to learn the skills from the basics." he paused before adding, "Like how a child around the age of ten would."

"Are you calling me an idiot?"

"No, I am calling you quite special, Lord Damien," Xavier said with a calm voice. "Because only a few would need to learn from the basics at your age."

'If I learn how to land a hit –then the first thing I am stabbing is this asshole,' thought Damien as he followed Xavier who was already walking away.
