It was one the most lucrative business only possible due to the joint venture of four of the six families.

" What's done is done. I vowed that I will lend all support so can you contact young lord about it?" The young man asked.

Three of them immediately went silent hearing him referencing lord's name. Six families were powerful but they all served the crown, the ruler of entire world. Even saying his name was forbidden because it was believed he was all seeing having people everyone.

Even they didn't know who were under his command. The only thing they knew was they could play around all they want but could never point their swords at him.

" Don't ever talk about him. You don't know who or what is listening." The mediator swiped the sweat off his forehead. He face was wet and he didn't even notice it.

" Don't worry about it. It just so happens that I know something related to it. The young lord did received their appeal and decided to make a move." Old man said with a smile.

" What? When?"

" No need to get so excited over it. He specifically told everyone to stand down and laid a trap for that pesky Rothschild. Nothing will change for now but you know he likes to play around with his enemies to let them understand true despair?"

" I know. Everyone know what happened to previous heir to the throne. His cunningness and brutality is famous among everyone in six families."

" Lord, if you give me permission I will get rid of them-"

" No, it's fine. They always bring smile on my face. Beside if we uproot them, few others would take their place. That's the kind of world we live in." He refused his butler's request.

" What about the other families. Do they think the same that I am getting soft?"

" No, lord. They fully believed in you. They wouldn't dare to go against your will."

" Good, at least some dogs are doing their part. What about the mission that I assigned you? I hope you completed it?"

" It's done. Because it's the holiday season, Rothschild had seized their operation but I am sure they will be able to find it given few months time."

" Hmm..it's that time of the year huh? How is father doing?" He lazily asked.

The butler froze, young lord wasn't keen on asking about his family members unless he was plotting something. Seeing he was interested, it meant there was going to a bloodbath soon.

" What's the matter didn't you hear me?"

" Mercy, young lord. He is doing alright. There haven't been a official summon yet but I am sure he would soon invite you for yearly report." The butler smashed his head on the ground to punish himself from hesitating.

" Well, I guess I should prepare then. Other family heads will be coming too right?"

" Yes."

" Good. What about Zero? I haven't heard any report as of late."

" They had to juggle a lot of things. First, they successfully integrated the street gang to operate as their hands and limbs for information gathering. " If they don't suspect anything why did he ask them to do anything for quite a while now? Others might underestimate that child but I am not like them. Zero had indeed been compromised from the looks of things but I guess that was bound to happen." From his tone, butler didn't know if he truly cared about what happened to them.

They operated under the Medici family on his accord and even went to serve Rothschilds under his command after that family got destroyed. Zero was playing a double agent for decades at this point proving their organization's worth time and time again so it was hard to see him ready to discard them without a care.

" Lord.."

" Do you think I am heartless or merciful? If I choose to throw them away and keep sparing Samuel Rothschild, doesn't that make me both?"

" I guess it's too hard for you to understand. Everyone has a purpose in this world and for someone like me, I have to calculate everything, every possibility, every scenario that could threaten me and my legacy. I could recall Zero and his subordinates and simultaneously erase Rothschild from the face of this earth but what's fun in that?"

" That's the burden that I have to bear. The six families would always be our loyal dog no matter how many centuries passed but people like Zero and Samuel are bound to come once in a while. Seeing butler staying quiet he excused him. He knew for someone loyal like him, his thoughts were too intrusive. He didn't have anyone that he could talk to but for some reason playing this game of cat and mouse with his enemies was the closest thing that he could call 'friendship'.
