Chapter 67 : 67 : Meeting Clair Again [ Bonus Chapter ]
Felix sat alone in the office, gazing out the window lost in thought. He wondered if Chef Gideon could help with the Spirit Chefs.
"It would have been amazing if I had many Spirit Chefs at my disposal" He thought with a sigh and a shake of his head.
Unfortunately, Spirit Chefs were hard to come by.
Suddenly, the door swung open and Nixie skipped in, followed by the expressionless Gwendolyn. "Big bro, why did you come to the restaurant so early?" Nixie asked as she sat at the desk, looking at Felix.
Felix turned around and smiled. "I had something to take care of that's why I came here early and besides I won't be here for long."
Nixie was curious. "What did you come here to do?"
Felix shook his head. "I'll tell you later, but right now I have something to ask you. I want you to start recruiting people who are skilled in management."
Nixie was surprised. "Why do you want to hire more people?"
Felix explained, "Just start the recruitment. I want people who are excellent at management. Do you understand?"
Nixie nodded, still puzzled. "How many people should I hire?"
Felix thought for a moment. "I want to hire nine people. I want them to be experienced and proficient in management. When you're done, report back to me."
"Got it, big bro," Nixie said, rolling her eyes.
Felix then turned to Gwendolyn. "Gwendolyn, I want you to assist Nixie with the hiring process and keep an eye on her."
Gwendolyn nodded in agreement. Felix didn't fully trust Nixie, knowing she could be mischievous and playful. He had a feeling she might mess things up if left on her own.
"Good," Felix said, nodding and smiling.
"Alright, I'll be heading back to continue my cultivation. You guys can start doing your work now." With that, Felix stood up and walked towards the door.
Just as he reached the door, he turned back and looked at Nixie. "Oh Nixie, your cultivation is still stuck. You haven't made a breakthrough yet. Except for you, all of us have made progress. Time is ticking, Nixie. If you don't increase your strength quickly, your money is going to fly away!
Hahaha." Felix laughed out loud as he opened the door and walked out.
Nixie's fists were clenched as she looked at the open door with an angry face.
Gwendolyn, who was sitting on the side, cracked a slight smile when she saw Nixie's angry expression.
-------------------------
Time passed quickly, and in a blink of an eye, it was already night in Brigdemoor City.
Deep in the slums of Brigdemoor City, inside a four-story building in a large room that resembled a conference room, a group of about ten people sat around a huge table.
They looked ahead with fearful and respectful expressions on their faces. Zephyr sat at the head of the table with a bored look on his face.
Clarke, who was sitting at the very front on the right side of the conference table, stood up and bowed to Zephyr.
"Gate Master, currently the underworld of the slums is under the control of our Abyss Gate. All gangs have either been destroyed or surrendered to us. Our members have increased to five hundred. Now, our Abyss Gate is the ruler of the underworld in the slums," Clarke reported to Zephyr.
"Good," Zephyr nodded. "And now, for our next course of action. In three months' time, we will start to expand to other districts. I want our Abyss Gate to be the ruler of the underground world of Brigdemoor City," Zephy said.
All those present had shocked expressions on their faces as they gazed at Zephyr.
Finn quickly stood up and addressed Zephyr, "Gate Master, I believe it will be extremely challenging and time-consuming to accomplish this. Our strength is currently weak, with only you being a Mana Cultivator while the rest of us are just ordinary folks with a bit of muscle. Some of the gangs in Bridgemoor City are more powerful than us, with over twenty Mana Cultivators in their ranks.
Plus, some of these gangs have ties to the Noble Families in the city, making our goal of dominating the underground world quite daunting".
After Finn finished speaking, he bowed to Zephyr and took his seat. The others nodded in agreement, all eyes on Zephyr.
Zephyr fell silent, contemplating over what Finn said.
Taking control of the underground world of Bridgemoor City was no easy feat, given the numerous gangs, their strength and their connections to the Noble Families.
Zephyr let out a rueful sigh, remarking, "Big bro, you've really given me a tough challenge."
"Looks like someone's in a tight spot,"
Suddenly, a voice broke the silence, causing everyone in the room to spring into action, brandishing knives and turning towards the entrance.
A young man stood there, clad in white pajamas with disheveled silver hair, exuding a nonchalant air.
"Excuse me, sir, may I ask who you are and what brings you here?" one of the individuals in the room inquired, eyeing the newcomer cautiously. The rest of the group shared the same wary expression, fear lingering in their eyes. They all vividly remembered how Zephyr had appeared in their stronghold before and went on a killing spree - it was a memory that still haunted them.
"Are you not going to tell your men to stand down?" the young man tilted his head and flashed a smile at Zephyr.
"Put down your weapons," Zephyr commanded as he stood up.
The men in the room quickly complied, although they still maintained their cautious demeanor.
"Hey, big bro, what brings you here at this hour?" Zephyr greeted Felix with a smile as he approached him. Yes, the young man was none other than Felix.
Felix rubbed his nose and took a seat in one of the chairs. "I was just about to hit the hay, but I thought I'd swing by since you haven't been back at the mansion," he explained.
"Yeah, I've been swamped," Zephyr nodded.
"And it looks like you've hit a few roadblocks," Felix remarked with a grin.
The men in the room watched wide-eyed as the conversation unfolded between Zephyr and Felix who was wearing pajamas.
"So, what's the issue?" Felix inquired.
"I've already taken control of the slums," Zephyr revealed.
"That was fast," Felix was taken aback. He had given Zephyr more than a month to gain control of the slums, but he had managed to do it ahead of schedule.
"Yeah," Zephyr smiled and nodded. "But we're looking to expand now, and our current strength isn't cutting it. Compared to the rest of the underground world in Bridgemoor City, we're pretty weak. I'm the only Mana Cultivator and the rest are just ordinary people "
Felix fell silent for a moment, then a few minutes later, he looked at Zephyr and placed a silver ring in front of him.
"Here, this storage ring contains what you currently need for the expansion. Take it slowly and quickly increase your strength before you can do it," Felix said.
Zephyr took the ring and peered inside with his consciousness. A moment later, a wide grin appeared on his face.
"This really comes in handy at this time," Zephyr said.
"That's good," Felix nodded and stood up. With his hands in his pockets, he walked towards the door.
"Ok, I'll be going back to sleep. You continue your work. Oh, it seems your strength hasn't increased much. If you don't hurry and increase your strength, then you will have to be locked up. Hahahahaha" Felix laughed uproariously and left the room.
Zephyr's eyes twitched when he heard Felix. He turned around and looked at Finn and the others who were looking at him in confusion.
"Ahem... Gate Master, if you don't mind me asking, who was that?" Finn asked curiously.
Zephyr smiled and said, "That's my big brother. And if you see him anywhere, treat him as you treat me. Otherwise, hehehe..." Zephyr laughed creepily.
All of them paled slightly as they gulped down a mouthful of saliva, quickly nodding their heads.
"Good," Zephyr smiled. He looked at the silver ring in his hand and said, "Now our current problem is solved."
Ten days passed by in a blink of an eye.
Bridgemoor City, Audaz District.
The Origin Restaurant on the fourth floor. Felix was sitting in the office looking through a stack of papers.
Just then, the door opened and Nixie briskly walked in.
"Big bro, they have arrived and are waiting outside," Nixie said.
"Let them in," Felix said without looking up.
"Alright," Nixie nodded and left the office. A few moments later, she returned with nine people in tow - five men and four women.
"Big bro, they're here," Nixie announced.
Felix set down the stack of papers and finally raised his head. A look of surprise crossed his face as he took in the group.
"Miss Clair, nice to meet you again," Felix smiled at one of the women among the nine people.
