Chapter 103: Take the Mole down
Glen raised his head in surprise as he looked up at Damien in surprise.
"Is there such a skill that can restore mana?' Glen wondered.
However, he knew that it was impossible.
When he was a young trainee at the temple, he had asked one of his seniors whether someone could restore their mana after using it up.
'Why are you saying something silly for no reason? How can there be such a good thing? Do you not know that every beast man has limited mana, which they need to replenish before using it again?"
'Without proper replenishing, it is impossible for a person to restore their mana.'
'In the history of Brystoria, only one beastman could do something as crazy as that –and you know who it was.'
"You…"
Damien turned and looked at the healer who was kneeling on the ground.
"Hmm?"
As soon as he made a sound, Glen jumped to his feet and charged at Damien. He clung to his legs and shouted, "Just who are you? Are you Lord Ruben? Are you his incarnation or are you his disciple?"
Other than Ruben Brystoria, the first transcendental beast man, no one had a skill where they could restore one's mana. This man had to be related to him!
"T–This lowly one had shown you disrespect; please forgive me for my imprudence!" As Glen spoke, he kneeled in front of Damien with his head pressing on the ground.
"Dude.. what is wrong with you?" Damien stepped away from the man. He was all in when it came to being respected and treated as a hero, but someone kneeling in front of him as if he were a god was where he drew the line.
However, Glen didn't seem to be listening.
"...I swear that I will never breathe a word of the grace that you have shown me. Please forgive me for not being able to recognise you."
Damien felt speechless. He turned to look at Xavier, who was hacking down the mole skeletons. He had a feeling that there was something missing in the information that Xavier gave to him.
"Alright, thank you for your wonderful support. Now can you step aside. We need to deal with these bunch of moles," Damien said to the man.
"Yes! Yes," Glen said to him with a flattering smile on his face. "I will do as you asked; you can tell me to do anything, and I will do it for you, my lord."
"Yeah, for now, how about taking care of the moles?" Damien asked as he walked towards the giant mole rat. In front of him, Xavier was having a hard time dealing with the skeletons of the moles as they charged at him. While he burnt most of it, it was as if the beast had an unlimited supply of mole rat bones.
Which he did as its decaying tail had a multitude of bones stuck in its rotting flesh.
No matter how many skeletons were burnt, hundreds and thousands of new skeletons would appear in front of them once again.
Even Xavier was having a hard time dealing with them, as the wave after wave of skeleton mole rats was simply too much for even him to handle.
His gaze fell on the three unconscious beasts who were lying on their deathbed because of the continuous attacks of the Decaying Mole.
"Yes sir!" Behind him, Damien heard Glen speak, and a second later he heard the man start chanting.
"O' dear Lord Icretus. I plead for your guidance; under the mercy of the heavenly being, lend me your power!"
A bright golden light flashed in the forest, followed by small, flowing waves of molten gold. Bit by bit, the molten streams of gold interlocked and intercepted one another as a giant, transparent beehive like structure formed in front of Damien and Xavier.
The skeletons of the mole rats that were attacking them turned into bits and pieces as the shield touched them.
The Decaying mole rat beast must have sensed that something was amiss. It stopped sending waves of mole rat skeletons towards them. Instead it let out a shrill roar.
Xavier paused in his actions, and even Damien stopped as the two of them eyed the giant mole rat with a wary look in their eyes.
They waited to see what kind of trick the monster was trying to pull and two seconds later, as the bones of the mole rats moved and joined together to become mini copies of the gigantic mole rat.
"This damn thing really took self love to a new level," Damien muttered as he looked at the two giant skeletons.
Though they slowed down a bit due to the shield that Glen created, it didn't do much damage to them.
"Can you take care of them?" Damien asked as he grasped the vial in his hands tightly. Even if he didn't feel like this plan that he and Xavier came up with was going to work. He was going to try it.
After all, one could only do what they thought was right and hope for the best.
Xavier glanced at the vial that he was holding in his hands and questioned, "Do you think that this is going to work, Lord Damien."
"Don't you trust me?" Damien asked.
"No," Xavier replied with a shake of his head.
"Good, I don't either," Damien patted the man on his shoulder before saying, "We just have to try our best man."
"Our best," Xavier breathed out as the ears on his head twitched. Hey don't ask him how he could understand what Xavier was saying when all he was doing was growling.
Xavier unsheathed his claws before remarking, "Then I hope that your best will get us out of here pretty soon, Lord Damien."
Damien didn't reply to his words; instead, he took three steps in front of Xavier before muttering, "Do you think that I want to stay here?"
